As the third country in East Africa to enjoy modern railway services after Kenya and Ethiopia, Tanzania is currently expanding its rail network with the construction of a Standard Gauge Railway to replace the old and inefficient meter-gauge railway system. In this video, we explore the six phases of the SGR project, which spans over 2,000 km from Dar es Salaam on the Indian Ocean to Kigoma in the west.
