Thimphu Dromchoe | Thimphu Tshechu | Religious celebration Thimphu Domchoe is an annual festival celebrated by the Bhutanese every year, officially known as Thimphu Lhamoi Dromchoe. Thimphu Dromchoe is a grand festival where the central Monastic Body lead by Je Khenpo (Chief Abbot of Bhutan). This festival is dedicated to the female protective Deity of Bhutan, Palden Lhamo/Maha Kali (Maha Kali in Indian term). This festival is celebrated at the Tashi Chhoe Dzong where monks perform the masked dances (Chham) and it is witnessed by thousands of people which include tourist and people from other Thimphu districts to receive blessings and pray for their wellbeing. Women all dressed up in their colorful attire (Kira) and men in their Ghos (National attire of Bhutan). The Thimphu Domchoe falls in Autumn annually before Thimphu Tshechu.
