Yosemite Road Trip: Bears, Falls & Mustang Magic

We took a red convertible Mustang from San Francisco to Yosemite, and this road trip turned into one of the wildest, most beautiful travel days we’ve ever had. It started with a surreal late-night drive through the Central Valley and ended with roaring waterfalls, granite cliffs, Mirror Lake reflections, and not one but two bear encounters. In this Yosemite travel vlog, we rewind from the biggest moment first: standing beside Vernal Fall on the Mist Trail with thunderous water, mist in the air, and a rainbow glowing in the spray. From there, the story goes back to our arrival near Oakhurst and Yosemite Forks, where a huge bear ran through our headlights as we pulled into the lodge parking lot. The next morning, we calmed down with breakfast, wild turkeys outside the lodge, and a peaceful hike on Lewis Creek Trail to Corlieu Falls. Then we head into Yosemite National Park properly, driving Highway 41 and Wawona Road with the Mustang roof down. We stop at the South Entrance, pass through the Wawona Tunnel, and get that unforgettable Tunnel View reveal with El Capitan, Half Dome, Bridalveil Fall, and Yosemite Valley opening up all at once. From there, we drive Southside Drive toward Curry Village and begin our hiking day. The main adventure includes the John Muir Trail, views of the Merced River, Vernal Fall, the Mist Trail, Mirror Lake via Tenaya Creek Bridge, and finally Lower Yosemite Fall Vista Point. We were too tired for Upper Yosemite Falls, but seeing Lower Yosemite Fall up close was still absolutely epic. Travel tips from this trip: stay near Oakhurst if you want an easy south entrance approach, start early for parking at Curry Village, bring layers because the waterfall mist is real, protect your camera gear, and always respect wildlife distance. Also, if you are driving a convertible into Yosemite, bring sunscreen and prepare for one of the most scenic drives of your life.
