Kollage is a vibrant medley of Marathi poems by renowned author and poet Ravindra Mathadhikari, dramatized by Aparna Gandhi and brought to life through expressive theatre, Odissi dance, music, and imaginative use of props. The production takes the audience on an evocative journey through the Navarasas, with each poem unfolding a distinct emotional landscape. Adbhuta (Wonder) - The evening begins with the poet waiting in eager anticipation for his audience. As the curtains rise and he finally beholds them, anticipation transforms into awe and delight. Shringara (Love) - An exploration of love in its many shades, this segment unfolds as a heartfelt dialogue between the Papihā (the rain bird) and Varunraja, the Lord of Rain. The monsoon becomes a metaphor for longing, separation, hope, reunion, and the countless emotions that accompany love. Hasya (Humour) A light-hearted satire on life before and after marriage. Courtship is painted in the rosy hues of romance, but once reality sets in, the very traits that once seemed charming become amusingly exasperating. A delightful poem that celebrates the sweet and sour humour of everyday relationships. The mood then shifts to dramatically darker colours. Bhayanaka (Fear) - An eerie, dilapidated mansion haunted by sinister spirits led by a wicked mistress who feasts on the blood of innocent villagers. Disguised as an ordinary woman, she lures unsuspecting victims into the haunted house—once they cross its threshold, there is no escape. Veera (Heroism) - A powerful portrayal of a soldier standing at the crossroads of duty and emotion. Torn between his sacred responsibility to defend his motherland and the heartfelt pleas of his family, he must confront the timeless dilemma between personal love and national duty. Bibhatsa (Disgust) rasa - a new bride questions the implications of the "Kumkum" ritual imposed upon her. The performance concludes with Shanta (Peace) - a serene invocation of inner peace. Through dance, the soul seeks communion with the Supreme, surrendering in prayer for wisdom, enlightenment, and eternal tranquility.
