Family of 8 found dead in Michigan home after house fire call, some shot

After a family of eight was found dead inside a Grand Haven Township home that had caught fire Friday morning, the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office said that some of them had been shot. Six children, aged five to 15, and two adults in their 40s were found dead after neighbors reported smelling and seeing smoke coming from their home on Riverside Trail near Birdsong Lane, according to the sheriff's office. Deputies said they were first called between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. after someone reported smelling smoke in the area of Riverside Trail near 148th Avenue, however, they did not find a fire. It was not until almost 11:45 a.m. that deputies returned to the area after callers reported seeing white smoke, which was coming from the Riverside Trail home, according to the sheriff's office.
