NO DAMAGE | DOOM: The Dark Ages | Nightmare 100% @ 150% Speed | Proof of Concept | Segmented
This is a segmented proof of concept for a full Nightmare/UN 100% no damage run at 150% game speed. A quick clarification on the segmentation, because there are 54 segments, but there are more cuts than that in the final video. For this video, I define a segment as a stretch of gameplay where I successfully continue without taking damage. Not every edit/cut in the video counts as a segment. Some cuts are just there because I took a break, paused the recording, or had to splice in footage for continuity. In a few rare cases, such as Harbor of Souls, I missed gold and had to replay parts of the level just to record the missing pickups and insert them into the video so the progression stayed smooth. I do not count those as new segments. A segment only begins when I take damage in an upcoming fight and have to reload a checkpoint to continue the no damage attempt. This was also done blind, meaning there was no dedicated practice for this no damage run beforehand. Any strats you see here are not the result of preparing specifically for this challenge — they mainly come from my UN 100% Max Sliders run: • [WORLD’S FIRST] DOOM: The Dark Ages MAX SL... There are also a few things worth clarifying about the footage itself: In Spire of Nerathul, there is a point where I collect some gold, then take damage, then reload the checkpoint. Because the game already counts that gold as collected, it no longer appears when I replay the segment, even though I still follow the same route. So if you notice missing gold where it should normally be, that’s why. Harbor of Souls was especially painful to put together. I missed gold and had to redo large parts of the level just to capture extra clips of myself collecting it, then insert those clips mid-segment so the level progression would still make sense in the final video. For the final boss fight in Reckoning, I had to use a different save. The reason is simple: I took damage during the boss fight, and when reloading the checkpoint I lost Berserk. To keep the fight consistent, I replaced the current save with another one that had a checkpoint right before the boss. That save had 20 less gold, which is why the gold total drops there. A note on weapon masteries as well: because I reload checkpoints after farming mastery points, the game continues tracking progress even across failed attempts. As a result, I am sometimes forced to farm weapons more than the in-game display would suggest if I want to be fair about how the run is represented. In a true single-segment Ultra-Nightmare full no damage run, you would not be able to abuse checkpoint reload farming. So for this proof of concept, I followed my weapon guide as closely as possible. (Link in the Pinned comment) I also farm a lot of weapon progress on the glory kill state Pinky Leader boss at the end of Harbor of Souls. One exception is the Rocket Launcher. I know I did not use it enough to earn a legitimate 50 mastery points during the actual footage. It shows 50 at the end because checkpoint reloads still preserve that tracked progress, and in a real 100% no damage single-segment run that would not be legitimate. I chose not to redo the run over that, mainly because the Rocket Launcher does not actually affect the gameplay route or viability of the run the way other weapons do. You could farm its mastery in an essentially irrelevant scenario by leaving one enemy alive in an arena, getting a parry, firing at yourself for 7–8 ticks, getting another parry, repeating, and so on. So yes — that part is my mistake, but it is also functionally inconsequential to the run itself.
