Commissioner Meeting 2 - March 3, 2021

Commissioners Christensen and Walker Reed met via ZOOM with Mark Hansen, County Treasurer and Jill Fransen, County Commercial Appraiser, for Bethany Godfrey, property owner in regards to the interest, penalty and late charges on this date on the following parcel:RPB2740014006B was asking for consideration to refund the interest, late fees and penalty. Bethany Godfrey paid property taxes for Excellence in Dentistry on a property that Kent and Patrice Godfrey sold to Jose and Brenda Garcia in 2019 and the deed should have been processed for 2020, but it was missed. The deed was a combination/break deed that did not get processed by the County. The error was noticed when Mr. Garcia went into the Assessor's office to inquire about the property not being in his name and the taxes in February 2021. Mrs. Godfrey later went to the Assessor's office for the same reasons and stated she had paid the taxes on behalf of Excellence of Dentistry and would like to get a refund. The Board of Commissioners approved a refund of taxes to Mrs. Godfrey/Excellence in Dentistry and the cancellation of all interest, late fees and penalty. Commissioner Walker motioned and Commissioner Christensen, in the absence of Commissioner Reed, seconded to refund the taxes paid and cancel all interest, late fees and penalty. Mark Hansen, Treasurer will refund Bethany Godfrey, Excellence in Dentistry, and work with the Garcias to collect the taxes and waive all interest, late fees and penalty.
