KILN REVEAL May 12, 2026 QUESTION FOR YOU! Lots of nice pieces and glazes shared.

Heyo Friends, In today’s kiln reveal, I’m opening up a fresh batch of pottery and taking a closer look at some pieces that have been giving me questions around crazing. A few viewers have asked whether the crazing I’m seeing could be connected to the clay body I’m using, Plainsman 370, which has around 14% shrinkage. I’m especially curious about whether refiring can help in some cases because the clay has already gone through its main shrinkage, and then the glaze may have a chance to settle or “heal” during a second firing. So today I’m asking for your thoughts and experience: Have you had crazing improve after refiring? Do you think clay shrinkage plays a role here, or is this more about glaze fit? Have you used Plainsman 370 with glazes that crazed or behaved beautifully? I’d love to hear from other potters, especially if you’ve tested refiring as a possible fix. I’m still learning, experimenting, and trying to understand what’s happening in the kiln, so your insight is always welcome.
