This video is an introduction to intervals, which are honestly one of the most basic topics, or one of the ones I believe are the most important because they will make your life easier with Music Theory. With Intervals, you can build Scales or Chords and understand a lot of more advanced Harmony concepts like Chord Tensions or the Circle of Fifths. That's what intervals are for. First things first, what is an interval in music? An interval, by definition, is the distance between two musical notes. This distance refers to the pitch, how low or high one note is relative to the other. The important thing about intervals isn't the distance, but rather that this distance helps us understand the relationship between the two notes we're measuring. I'm also going to explain what seconds, thirds, fourths, fifths, sixths, sevenths, and octaves mean. Simple intervals and compound intervals (ninths, elevenths, and thirteenths). I'm going to teach you what the interval names mean, including the qualities of minor, major, augmented, and diminished. BUT I'M GOING TO GIVE YOU A TIP... DON'T GET OVERWHELMED! I know music theory can be very intimidating, but the point of understanding the "rules" of music is that you'll have more resources to play and have fun with music.
