(Plaster, paint, waterproofing of the facade) ○ Wall against the ground: Is there moisture exposure from outside due to standing water? ○ Is interior substrate preparation required? (Free of non-load-bearing paint and old plaster, removal of existing gypsum plaster, leveling of uneven surfaces) Planning: ○ Assessment of the U-value of the existing wall ○ Consideration of the building's orientation ○ Dimensioning of the insulation thickness ○ Risk of existing pipes and conduits freezing on the outside of the insulation layer? ○ Careful consideration of thermal bridges: Detailed planning of window reveals, adjoining walls and ceilings, radiator recesses, penetrations/fixings ○ Is the creation of an airtight layer (climate membrane) necessary? ○ Is an installation level required? • Consideration of critical temperature and humidity loads at the ends of timber joists in ceilings Execution: • Use insulation, adhesive, and coatings as a system (compatible components) • Prevent airflow behind the insulation layer (through full-surface bonding or a vapor barrier) • When using vapor barriers, ensure airtight connections and avoid damage Use: • Humidity and temperature in the room must correspond to residential use (not a special climate such as a swimming pool, sauna, or commercial kitchen) • Is ventilation by the occupants ensured? Is a ventilation system required? • Are there special requirements for the final coating? (vapor-permeable, latex paint, tiles) • Take care when attaching items such as picture frames, shelves, and cabinets Note: Interior insulation of exterior walls must always be considered on a case-by-case basis for each building.
