HVAC-Air Terminals Sizing l ASHRAE 70 Requirements l Selection with all Technical Concepts🔥Explained
During the commissioning of HVAC system, we will face some difficulties as I mentioned below:- • My selection is based on Manufacturer Performance Data, But I could not get Proper throw as mentioned in the Performance data Sheet. • I get Higher Noise Level. However, my selection is based on Manufacturer Performance Data. • I am not sure I followed correct minimum and Maximum distance between Two diffusers? • I have a restaurant with Open Ceiling, I selected the diffuser based on performance data sheet, but no proper throw & cooling. It is important to understand how each technical parameters affect the selection instead of simply selecting the Numbers from some Manufacturers Technical Data Sheet, in this video I covered the Technical Points & its backup ideas how each factors affect the Diffusers Selection. A couple of things affect the throw and drop of diffuser- one is whether its free jet or whether it is moving along the surface like ceiling. If the Diffusers are designed and tested based on ASHRAE 70 for the installation in the ceiling & if we install the same diffusers in the open ceiling area, diffuser cannot produce its output as mentioned in its performance data of technical data sheet. If diffusers are installed in the ceiling, it will have SURFACE EFFECT. That means the air will touch the ceiling first and momentum of jets carry the air further. If the same diffuser is installed in a place without ceiling , there will be 30% reduction in throw. If the performance data of diffuser indicates 4m throw, then there will be 30% reduction in throw distance. During the discharge of supply air through ceiling diffuser, due to high supply air velocity near the ceiling surface, a small low pressure zone is created along the ceiling and that pulls the air back towards the ceiling. This is called as COANDA EFFECT. Throw is measured on some Terminal velocity like 150FPM (0.75 M/s), 100FPM (0.5 M/s) & 50FPM (0.25 M/s) Like mentioned above, many more technical points added for your clear understanding.
