About 40 years ago, slash-and-burn farmers moved into this place, which was difficult to cultivate due to its gravel-filled slopes, and started farming. It has now become the largest highland vegetable complex in the country. Baramburi Village, a remote area of ​​Wangsan-myeon. This village is so remote that electricity was only introduced last year. It is home to a total of ten households. Mr. Park Heung-dong, the resident elder of Baramburi Village, has been living here for nearly 50 years, having settled here 50 years ago to grow cabbage and raise his three sons. Even in the middle of summer, it is cool, so he lights a fire in the hearth at night. Mr. Park Heung-dong's house never runs out of firewood throughout the year. Godan-ri in Wangsan-myeon is where the most seed potatoes are cultivated in Gangneung. The seed potatoes, planted as a double crop to harvest high-quality cabbage, have thrived and become the village's representative crop. In Godan-ri, oxen still pull plows and harvest the fields. Although machinery is used, there is still nothing better than an ox for tilling the small, sloping fields.
