The Delhi Sultanate was a series of Muslim dynasties that ruled large parts of the Indian subcontinent from 1206 to 1526 CE, with its capital at Delhi. It played a major role in shaping the political, cultural, and administrative history of medieval India. Main Dynasties of the Delhi Sultanate Mamluk Dynasty (Slave Dynasty) (1206–1290) Founded by Qutb al-Din Aibak. Established Muslim rule in northern India. Built the famous Qutb Minar. **Khalji Dynasty (1290–1320) Known for military expansion under Alauddin Khalji.
