I Painted the Entire Advanced Heroquest Set

After promising for ages that I would come back to this gloriously strange old Games Workshop dungeon crawler, I finally sat down and painted the full boxed set properly. A while back, I made a video talking about Advanced Heroquest and how it sits in that wonderful space between HeroQuest and Warhammer Quest. It has that old boxed-game charm, but with more Warhammer flavour, more crunch, and a lot of personality. Ever since, I knew I wanted to come back and give it the treatment it deserved. So that is exactly what I did. In this video, I paint the full Advanced Heroquest set and bring the whole thing back to life: heroes, Skaven, henchmen, doors, dungeon bits, the lot. I started with the Skaven to get the project moving, then tackled each hero alongside three matching henchmen, carrying their colours across the group so they would be easy to identify on the tabletop. Maybe not the most campaign-flexible choice in the world if the henchmen end up changing hands later on, but visually it works a treat and gives the set a really strong identity. And that was the point of the whole project. This was never about turning every miniature into a tiny competition piece. It was about restoring the experience. Making Advanced Heroquest feel alive again. Making it look like the game it was always meant to be: colourful, atmospheric, cohesive, and properly inviting on the table. For anyone not familiar with it, Advanced Heroquest is one of those classic oldhammer oddities that still feels incredibly special. More developed than HeroQuest, rougher and stranger than Warhammer Quest, and absolutely packed with character once paint starts going on. Exactly the sort of game I love. So if you enjoy oldhammer, HeroQuest, Warhammer Quest, classic Games Workshop boxed games, dungeon crawlers, or just watching an old set finally get the love it deserves, this one should be right up your dungeon corridor. Let me know which miniature or group is your favourite, and whether you’d like to see more Advanced Heroquest content after this. #AdvancedHeroquest #Oldhammer #HeroQuest #WarhammerQuest #MiniaturePainting #GamesWorkshop #WarhammerFantasy #DungeonCrawler #TabletopGaming #RetroGaming #PaintingMiniatures #RushTheWash
