100 Years of the BBC | A Centenary of Celebrations | BBC History
The BBC turns 100 years old today! Ever since first taking to the airwaves of the wireless in 1922, the British Broadcasting Company (later Corporation) went on to not only establish itself as one of the most influential and dominant forces in radio, but also a ground-breaker in the realm of television! From the inauguration of the BBC Television Service in 1936, all the way up until its current attempts to survive in the digital age, the BBC has consistently evolved, entertained and served as a key bastion of continuity over the last 100 years!
