Dubois, Dorante's former valet who has become Araminte's valet, then devises a scheme to bring Dorante and Araminte together. He pushes Dorante to get hired as Araminte's steward, then sets up a series of false confidences to confuse the young woman and get her to accept her love for Dorante.
