Tai Daeng (Red Tai) Healing Shaman Pt. 2

When we were in Sam Neua last June with Elli, the professor we were guiding, she wanted to visit different Tai Daeng shamans and we were told that there was a highly regarded Tai Daeng shaman in the town of Sam Neua. So one morning we got up and began walking in the general direction, several miles away, where we were told he lived. We did find him, with the help of a Hmong businessman who, when we stopped to ask where this shaman might live, offered to take us there in his car. We were extremely fortunate (I believe that people can create their own luck) because he was going to be performing a diagnosis ceremony for a young Lao man whose son was very ill in the local hospital. The two video clips here on our YouTube channel show the shaman performing the ceremony. But what was really amazing, was when afterwards we were talking and he was asking Bai about her connections to Sam Neua, that they discovered that Bai's father was his "love son" who he hadn't seen since the war! An extraordinary coincidence, so in the Lao world, being married to Bai, this shaman is my relative. And can you believe he is 91 years old?
