HIBAF2023 Panel Discussion on Migration with Nasiru Wada Khalili

This Hausa language discussion panel took place during the Hausa International Book and Arts Festival (HIBAF) in Kano on 16th December 2023. The theme of HIBAF2023 was Hausa Diaspora. This panel discussed 'Migration from Below' in which, using Kano (Nigeria) as a case study, it analyses the historical migration of nationals from north Africa and Middle East to Kano which was a trans-Saharan commercial entrepot. The panel therefore focused on what it refers to as the paradox of Kano (Nigeria) -- multicultural, multinational, multiracial, yet peacefully homogenous.
