ADG Episode 146 - Nitemare-3D
Originally Released: September 6th, 2014 ------------------------------------------ I was somewhat surprised when I discovered just how detailed this game got with its scripted events... along with the lack of any graphic violence whatsoever. That said, it also has some questionable design choices... It's a unique game for sure, but very hard to comment on. :o ------------------------------------------ Additional Information and Corrections: Here's a link to the Nitemare-3D page on the Gray Design Associates website: http://www.dgray.com/n3dpage.htm Here's another link to the shareware version of the game on the DOSGames website, since you'll definitely want to try it first before buying it: https://www.dosgames.com/game/nightma... There's some other features I didn't touch on. One of them is that since there's only three basic kinds of attack, every enemy is coded to be resistant or weak to certain weapons. Using the right weapon against the right enemy is typically a good thing to do, but any enemy with a ranged attack will strike the instant they see you, so taking the time necessary to switch weapons can be deadly. Damage scaling with distance can also make it tricky to figure out which weapons work best against which enemies. If you find a scroll paper with a safe code on it, be VERY sure you memorize it or write it down. Heck, save the game and put the code in the name of the save game. Picking up the scroll destroys it and thus if you lose the code you're not gonna get much further. :P This is actually a pretty long game, though this is mostly owing to the difficulty and the frustration factor of having to do puzzles over again. If you know exactly where to go and what to do you can speed-run this game pretty quickly, but without having this info down pat it can take several hours to beat the game. ------------------------------------------ Pixelmusement Website: http://www.pixelships.com ADG on Pixelmusement: http://www.pixelships.com/adg Alphabetical Index of ADG Episodes: http://www.pixelships.com/adg/index2....
