Sultana: 1865 Randall D. Standridge Grade: 3 B1816 This programmatic work paints a portrait of the worst maritime disaster in U.S. history. In 1865, after the end of the Civil War, the Sultana was carrying Union soldiers up the Mississippi River when she exploded. This work combines original material with the classic hymn, Abide with Me and two Union songs (We're Coming, Father Abra'am and The Battle Cry of Freedom) to create a dramatic narrative that will deeply impact players and audiences alike. COVID-19 and FJH Recordings The COVID-19 virus has affected our recording sessions for concert band and full orchestra.
