Prostate cancer is a common cancer, ranking first in incidence among men in Korea. While symptoms are not distinct in the early stages, as the disease progresses, symptoms such as urinary abnormalities, hematuria, and bone pain may appear. Treatment can become particularly difficult if the disease progresses to the "castration-resistant prostate cancer" stage, where it does not respond to hormone therapy during treatment. In this lecture, Professor Jae-Young Jeong of the Department of Urology at the National Cancer Center provided an easy-to-understand explanation tailored to the level of understanding of patients and their guardians, covering: the stages of prostate cancer progression and treatment flow the characteristics of castration-resistant prostate cancer and the recently garnering attention of targeted therapy and radiopharmaceutical treatment. In particular, the lecture covers the latest treatment strategies in detail, including "Fluvicto," a radioligand therapy that selectively attacks cancer cells by targeting PSMA.
