The initially peaceful protest by the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PMII) at the DPR/MPR RI building in Jakarta suddenly turned tense on Monday afternoon (June 22, 2026). Tension between the protesters and the police guarding the protest began when a group of students set fire to a replica coffin. The fire grew larger, fueled by the burning of tires, forcing police to use portable fire extinguishers (APAR). At this point, the two groups clashed. The Sabhara (Sabhara) personnel carrying APARs became the target of the angry mob. In response to the protesters' actions, other personnel were provoked into retaliating by the police.
