The story concerns two theatrical producers who scheme to get rich by fraudulently overselling interests in a Broadway musical designed to fail. Complications arise when the show is a surprise hit. The original Broadway production opened on April 19, 2001, starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick, and ran for 2,502 performances, winning a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards. It spawned a successful West End production running for just over two years, national tours in the US and UK, many productions worldwide and a 2005 film version. The fabulous overture, complete with gloriously over-the-top Harp part, features rapid snippets of the songs I Wanna Be A Producer, Prisoner of Love, That Face, Along Came Bialy and, of course, Springtime for Hitler. This arrangement for concert band, based on the show orchestration by Doug Besterman, is a treat for advanced bands, perfect for a concert celebrating the magic of the musicals. #theproducers #producers #melbrooks #nathanlane #matthewbroderick #springtimeforhitler #1967 #2001 #musical #braodway #westend #westendmusical #broadwaymusical #arrangeme #music #concertband #band #musicalensemble #sheetmusicdirect #windensemble #sheetmusicplus #score #johnivorholland
