Limelight for Soprano Saxophone and Piano - Chris Evan Hass | Score Video

A new STUDIO RECORDING of my funky piece for saxophone and piano, Limelight, performed immaculately by ‪@davecamwell‬ and TingTing Yao!! This is an older piece, originally written in 2020, but I've been waiting on the right recording to really spotlight what this tune is all about - No easy feat when the parts are so challenging! I also have several different versions of this tune available for purchase: This Bb Saxophone and Piano (could work on Tenor too!) https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr... Eb Saxophone (alto or bari) and Piano https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr... Bb Saxophone and Brass Quintet https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr... All versions of the piece can be ordered physically through Murphy Music Press: https://murphymusicpress.com/search?q... Program Notes: 'Limelight' was written for Jeremy Cleary, an incredibly ambitious high school saxophonist looking for a new challenge after performing my previous saxophone quartet piece 'Volcanic Ash'. It took Jeremy and me awhile to figure out the direction of this new project, but once we discovered our mutual love of funk-based brass band music this source of inspiration seemed to make a lot of sense for the eclectic instrumentation of solo soprano saxophone and brass quintet. Several artists influenced the jazzy harmonies, groovy bassline, and dance-like rhythms that make up ‘Limelight’, including Lucky Chops, Moon Hooch, and the Youngblood Brass Band. The main priority of the piece, however, is to show off the soloist through progressively more complicated passages, making sure to always keep the soloist in the “limelight”.
