Thika Introduces One-Stop Service Shop as City Status Preparations Intensify

Thika Municipality has unveiled a comprehensive plan aimed at accelerating its journey to city status, including the introduction of a One-Stop Service Centre designed to make it easier for traders and investors to access county services under one roof. Speaking during the opening of the Touch of Thika SMEs Expo 2026 at Christina Wangari Gardens, Municipal Manager Margaret Nyachania revealed that the municipality is streamlining service delivery, upgrading infrastructure, expanding solar street lighting and enhancing urban beautification as part of preparations for city status. Nyachania also issued a stern warning against individuals posing as county liaisons and soliciting money from traders, disclosing that one suspect had already been arrested for impersonating a county official. She further highlighted ongoing road improvement projects, support for local businesses, and the municipality's efforts to create a 24-hour economy while ensuring traders remain at the centre of Thika's growth agenda.
