Father's Day ended in Horror as grieving dad who lost daughter to gun, killed in hit-and-run

A Wallerfield family is once again mourning an unimaginable loss after a father who was still grieving the violent death of his teenage daughter was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Father's Day. Forty-two-year-old Daveanand Santo died after being struck by a vehicle along Bermuda Road, Wallerfield, late Sunday night. According to relatives, Santo had spent part of Father's Day with family and had just left his sister's home after sharing dinner when tragedy struck shortly after 10 p.m. Relatives said Santo was hit by a seven-seater vehicle whose driver failed to stop following the collision. The motorist fled the scene, leaving the injured man behind. Santo was taken to the Arima Hospital where he died. His death has reopened painful wounds for relatives who are still struggling to come to terms with the killing of his 16-year-old daughter, Aliyah Santo, less than two years ago. Aliyah was fatally shot at her Antigua Road, Wallerfield home on August 27, 2024. The teenager sustained a single gunshot wound and was rushed to the Arima District Hospital, where she later died. Police investigations led to the arrest of her 18-year-old boyfriend, Hakeem Ramsammy, who was subsequently charged with manslaughter. Investigators had reported that a firearm was allegedly being handled inside the house when it discharged, striking the teenager. For family members, Santo's death marks another devastating chapter in a series of tragedies that have shattered their lives.
