Tree Re-Pollard [UK Arborists Climbing]

It was late in the day and with a couple hours to spare we decided that with a team of three this job would be more than doable if we went 'two up, one down'. That being having two climbers in the tree and one on the ground. The specification was to undertake a re-pollard on this street side lime tree. Pollarding is a recognised technique, one that I am not personally particular fond of but it is. good way to maintain certain street trees. This lime tree would be a perfect example. They respond well to the prune as they quickly grow back with multiple epicormic shoots. Watch the videos to see how we pruned the whole tree using only handsaws!
