Replacing the Jandy Valve O-rings; Pool Pump Not Priming Part 8
WEBSITE: http://www.swimmingpoollearning.com/ YouTube Video Index -- A list of all of my videos: http://poolmandave.blogspot.com/2014/... Here is one air leak source that is often overlooked. The O-rings in the Jandy Valve can get old and start to lose their seal. This will allow air to enter the valve. You may also see an obvious water leak at the valve. The air leak can be so severe as to cause the pump to lose its prime. In the case with this valve, since it is with a Sand Filter, the air leak is compounded. The Sand filters have a salt shaker like air valve on top. If air gets in the system then the filter will not work properly. It is just how Sand filters are designed. Any other filter type is not effected by an air leak as much. The pump is the first place you will see the effects of an air leak in the Jandy Valve. There will be air in the clear glass lid or the pump will lose its prime entirely. If you checked everywhere else for a leak and couldn't find anything, then take the valves in front of the pump apart and change all of the O-rings. In some cases you will have two valves before the pump. One for Spa and Pool suction and one for the cleaner port. Here I change the cleaner port O-rings. You must lube the O-rings before you put the valve back together. Another thing I show in the video is to put the handle back on so that you know the gate will be lined up with the hole properly. Failure to line the gate up could cause some potentially serious problems, like turning off the suction line completely and causing your pump to burn out. So simply put the handle back on to check the alignment. If after you do all this and the valve still appears to be the problem, then you will need to cut the valve out and re-plumb a new one. They can get old and lose their structural integrity. Nothing lasts forever ;) For the other seven parts on Pool Pump Not Priming, see this Playlist on my Channel: • Pool Pump Not Working Mrdgvb1 Social Media Links: Google +: https://plus.google.com/b/10773534357...
