Logging in mountain forests: A demanding and dangerous job for both man and machine! For a day, we accompany Markus Schlöglhofer and his team from the Dreher Forestry Administration as they work with the TST 600 mountain harvester: a combination of cable car and harvester that has established itself as the ideal solution for careful timber harvesting on extreme slopes. With a pulling force of 3.5 tons, the TST 600 is the manufacturer's third-largest cable crane: a cable machine that's not too heavy, yet powerful, and universally applicable for thinning operations as well as for the final use of thick timber. The processor, a Timbernator 60 H, also comes from TST forestry. It can delimb and cut trunks with a diameter of up to 60 cm. In the video, Markus Schlöglhofer explains what the machine can do, what to consider when using it, and what dangers lurk during this work.
