This time we got a glimpse inside Noortje's (85) courtyard and courtyard house on Rozengracht. Noortje was a violinist for many years and worked for the Concertgebouw, as did her husband, Theo Olof, who was concertmaster. They lived together in an upstairs apartment a stone's throw from the Concertgebouw. ​​It was an ideal place for their work, but as Noortje's husband got older, he struggled with all the stairs, so they decided to move to Amstelveen. After her husband's death, Noortje wanted to return to the city and registered for a courtyard house. Two years later, when she had almost forgotten about it, she received a phone call: a courtyard house had become available! The courtyard house was built in 1737, consists of 21 apartments, and even has a regent's room. Now it is mainly used to celebrate Sinterklaas and Christmas. 🎄 What does Noortje think of living there? "A real stroke of luck," and all the residents unanimously agree. She enjoys everything the neighborhood has to offer, often gets a Turkish pancake at Effendy, and can get anywhere in the city in no time with the tram right outside her door.
