Open dag nieuwe ambulancepost Winschoten: 'Een kijkje in het leven van een ambulancehulpverlener'

The new ambulance station in Winschoten opened its doors to the public on Thursday. Visitors were given a behind-the-scenes look and could see what ambulance care work looks like in practice. According to Vincent van der Wal, operations manager of the Winschoten station, a new location was sorely needed. "The previous station was quite outdated. We also wanted to keep up with the times regarding sustainability, so it was certainly necessary to create a new, beautiful, and large station." The new station has been in use since May. In addition to a more modern and sustainable building, work processes have also been improved. "All vehicles now have their own entrance and exit. Furthermore, we have become a regional station, which means staff members can also work here." For residents, the ambulance care itself changes hardly at all. "The care we provided remains the same. However, we can have the ambulances ready again faster here because we also carry out minor repairs at the station. This way, we are ready for the future." During the open day, visitors could, among other things, view an ambulance up close, ask questions to ambulance staff, and see everything involved in an emergency deployment. We want to provide insight into what we do. People see an ambulance pull up, but there is much more behind it than just the ambulance. There is an entire organization behind it, including this station.
