Pakistan Train Hijack: Over 100 Hostages Rescued | ISH News

In a shocking incident, armed militants from the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) attacked a train in Pakistan’s Balochistan region on Tuesday, 11th March 2025. They took around 450 passengers, including women and children, as hostages. The train, named Jaffar Express, was traveling from Quetta to Peshawar when it was hijacked near the Bolan Pass, a mountainous area with many tunnels. What Happened? The BLA militants exploded the railway track, forcing the train to stop in a remote area. They then boarded the train and took control. The group claimed responsibility for the attack, saying they killed over 30 soldiers and took hostages, including officers from Pakistan’s army, Anti-Terrorism Force (ATF), and ISI. They later released women, children, and Baloch passengers but threatened to kill the remaining hostages if their demands, including the release of Baloch political prisoners, were not met within 48 hours. Rescue Operation Pakistani security forces launched a rescue mission despite challenges like difficult terrain and militants using women and children as human shields. They managed to save 155 people, including 58 men, 31 women, and 15 children. During the operation, 27 BLA attackers were killed. Why Did This Happen? Balochistan is a resource-rich region in Pakistan, but the Baloch people, a minority, accuse the government of exploiting their resources and neglecting their development. The BLA, a militant group fighting for a separate Balochistan, has grown stronger due to Pakistan’s economic and political crises. Pakistan’s Response Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, condemned the attack and praised the security forces for their efforts. However, such incidents highlight the growing chaos in Pakistan, which ranks 2nd on the Global Terrorism Index, even above war-torn Syria. Experts warn that Pakistan could soon split into smaller countries due to ongoing conflicts and instability. Conclusion The train hijacking is a grim reminder of the worsening security situation in Pakistan. With militant groups like the BLA gaining strength, the country faces a serious threat to its unity and stability. The world watches as Pakistan struggles to control the rising violence within its borders. #PakistanTrainHijack #BalochistanLiberationArmy #PakistanNews #JaffarExpress #BolanPass #ShehbazSharif #TerroristAttack #WorldNews #BreakingNews #IndiaSigningHands #ISH #ISHNews #ISL #IndianSignLanguage #SignLanguage ISH News broadcasts the Daily News and Entertainment online in Deaf-friendly accessible formats which are in Indian Sign Language (ISL), visual images with titles, voice-over and closed-captions.
