Dressed in traditional dhotis and kurtas, the priests take their positions with large, multi-tiered brass lamps — aarti diyas — filled with camphor and ghee. At the signal, the lamps are lit, and the aarti begins. In perfect synchronization, the priests move the blazing lamps in circular motions, offering fire to Devi Maa Ganga.
