Chapter 3 in our TDE (The Dark Eye) campaign Nurvana. Ysmail's dead seems to be the beginning of something else. Lyrics [Whisper] Do not close your eyes. The road is not finished. The sand forgot his footsteps when the stone received the rest. Behind him stood the sentence with darkness in its chest. He had no sword for heaven, no bargain left to make, only one last breath of courage and a name the wolves could take. Then she rose above the blue, mother of the moon-bound cry, with tears like falling constellations and sorrow older than the sky. Was it worth the leaving? Was it worth the wound? He looked back once toward the living, then upward to the moon. Open the gate, where the three stars turn. Carry the lost where the pale roads burn. Let the raven wait, let the black court call. A wolf still hears when the last hearts fall. The sea below was silent, black glass without a shore. Old memories came floating from every broken door. A sister not so helpless. A master without end. The first bright wound of magic. The face he could not mend. Give me what made you gentle. Give me what kept you warm. The pack does not carry weakness, only shelter through the storm. So he gave away a sunlight he could no longer name, and something in his human voice bent low and became flame. Raven, turn your wings aside, the wolves have claimed the dead. Through worlds that crack like frozen glass, the star-path runs ahead. One voice broke. Two voices bled. A song became a howl. A world held on by one thin thread as shadows learned to prowl. Anchor me in broken things. Bind me where the lost roads cross. If life returns, it returns changed, and every breath has cost. [Outro] Vaê wept. The gate grew small. Somewhere beyond death, the pack began to call. Chronicle: Ysmail dies in the Valley of Bones after buying enough time for his companions to escape Talatar. Vaê appears in the desert threshold, asking whether his sacrifice was truly worth what it cost. Talatar and his servants pursue Ysmail beyond the moment of death, trying to bind him to judgment. Vaê's tears open a path of stars toward Uthar's Gate, allowing Ysmail to slip away. Ysmail reaches the shore of the Nirgemeer and reflects on memories of Valeria, Hasrabal, first magic, lost love, and Talatar's first gaze. Golgari arrives to carry him toward Boron, but the sky-wolves intercept the raven. The wolves test Ysmail through loss, loyalty, and wildness. Ysmail gives up a memory of love and hope, proves himself against a wolf-trial, and swears to protect the pack and those worth saving. He follows Liska rather than Golgari, binding himself to the sky-wolves and the fate of fragile worlds. In the Limbus, he learns that globules and fairy worlds require anchors or they will break apart. He sacrifices his two-voiced song so one endangered world can hold against the shadows. He witnesses chained giants, an ancient bound power, and a Shadow Bazaar being eaten by darkness. To return, Ysmail must find an anchor. To become one, he begins paying with pieces of himself.
