Building Backup Power for Capilano Water Supply

Essential work at a critical Metro Vancouver water supply facility will ensure drinking water will keep flowing to residents during a major power outage or earthquake. Part of that work includes carefully pulling long and delicate electrical cables through a tunnel to the water pump building. It’s a significant resiliency advancement for the region.   Metro Vancouver is a diverse organization that plans for and delivers regional utility services, including water, sewers and wastewater treatment, and solid waste management. It also regulates air quality, plans for urban growth, manages a regional parks system, provides affordable housing, and serves as a regional federation. The organization is a federation of 21 municipalities, one electoral area, and one treaty First Nation located in the region of the same name.
