The story of our patient, Renat Iskhakov, is not just about surgery. About 12 years ago, the driver was in a serious accident, suffering a spinal cord injury. Surgeons performed several surgeries, installing metal implants that helped eliminate instability and correct the spinal deformity. Unfortunately, the spinal cord sustained severe damage, making it impossible to fully restore spinal function. His lower extremities lost strength and sensation. Renat faced a long rehabilitation period—and today, although he primarily uses a wheelchair, he is completely independent, feels well, and strives to live and work actively. Now, years later, he continues his rehabilitation, including participating in innovative developments. In this report, we address topics that are important to many of our patients: how to maintain self-confidence after such painful events, continue to move forward, overcome depression and difficulties, and return to a full life.
