All the Reasons Your 5800 Sensor Might Lose Supervision
In this video, Joe talks about what might cause a Honeywell 5800 Series Sensor might lose supervision. He starts by discussing what supervision is on a Honeywell 5800 Series Device. He shows the Honeywell 5800MINI Door and Window Sensor as an example. This contact sends supervision check in signals. Joe explains that the supervision for the sensor works with the alarm system. He says that 5800 Series Sensors send a check in signal to the panel every 70 to 90 minutes. This lets the system know that they are active and communicating properly. According to Joe, the system must receive one of these check in signals from each programmed sensor at least once within a 12 hour period. If the system does not receive a check in signal within this time period, a supervision trouble message will be displayed. Joe explains that the the 12 hour period for the sensors was programmed intentionally with these systems. He says that just because the system does not receive a check in signal from the sensor every 70 to 90 minutes does not necessarily mean that the sensor is not working. Joe mentions that external factors such as interference could prevent the check in signal from being received every 70 to 90 minutes. If the system had to receive a check in signal from the sensors every 90 minutes, it would most likely result in a large number of unnecessary supervision trouble messages being displayed. Joe also states that most 5800 Series Sensors can only communicate on way, and there is usually no way for the alarm system to actually send signals to the sensor. He explains that this is why the sensors check in with the panel, and not the other way around. Joe concludes the video by mentioning some of the reasons that a 5800 Series Sensor may no longer be able to communicate with the system. Some of the possibilities he brings up include the presence of new transmission obstacles such as furniture and a sensor antenna that has weakened over time. http://alrm.gd/get-monitored
