If your Pointer's gearshift has excessive play or excessive movement even when in gear, then this video may help you correct it. You just need to replace the rubber bushings that form part of the shifter mechanism, which is commonly called a shifter replacement. It's a common problem in these vehicles. I've had to replace several, with very good results. The problem most often lies in the parts that go underneath the vehicle; they tend to break or dislodge, causing excessive shift play.
