It is primarily used for eyebrow hair drawing, whereby color pigments are permanently worked into the skin. The difference from permanent makeup is that no machine is used in microblading. The color is manually pigmented into the skin. Like the handpiece of mechanical PMU, the microblading handpiece contains sterile-packaged blades (in a "slope" style, U-shaped or sloped). It glides over the skin with gentle pressure, creating a fine cut. The cut is so fine that the drawn hairs are barely distinguishable from real hairs. Depending on the drawing technique, each eyebrow has a unique look. So-called HD & 3D eyebrows give no indication that they are permanent makeup. The method originated in Asia and is currently gaining popularity worldwide.
