Corolla Longnose Update | Losing the Dream Engine

The Corolla Longnose project is back with another small update. For those new to the build, this project started with two very different cars: a Toyota Corolla Bigbody and a Mazda 929 / Kia Potentia. The goal is to create a unique rear-wheel-drive Corolla by combining the Corolla body with the 929 platform underneath. To make it all work, the Corolla underwent major surgery. The front end was stretched forward from the A-pillars to create a longer engine bay and more aggressive proportions, while the body was shortened between the B- and C-pillars to transform it into a two-door coupe. In this update, we discuss the current status of the project, including a major change in plans. The custom-built 4G63 DOHC turbo engine and KM132 transmission that were originally intended for the car have been sold, forcing us to reconsider our drivetrain options. We take a look at several affordable engine possibilities and explain why the humble Toyota 4K engine currently appears to be the most practical choice for getting the project moving again. Sometimes the best way to keep a project alive is to work with what you already have. We also provide an update on the new roof construction at the workshop driveway, including a discussion of the costs involved. ------------ If this content helps you, consider supporting the channel. https://buymeacoffee.com/kuholgarage Or be a member:    / @kuholgarage   Kuhol Garage / KHL Motorsport   / kuholgarage     / kuholgarage
