Here we go with Finnish Oven Meat Pie, Lihapiirakka, also known as traditional peltilihapiirakka. A tasty dish when guests are coming over and you need something savoury. Great for parties too! The dough is wonderful and easy to roll and make, this is one of my mothers go-to recipes. Instead of meat-rice-onion-eggs filling, you can use also do a salmon pie, cabbage pie or mushroom pie. Filling ideas: 🍴Salmon-rice-egg filling with some dill 🍴Cooked cabbage with some sweetness 🍴 Mushroom sauce Ingredients: (take first the butter to tabe to soften) 2 hard boiled eggs 1 cup round rice 2-3 cups water (use 2, add more when it's lacking) 1 onion 1 lb ground beef / minced meat 1 teaspoon salt, oregano, paprika, basil, black pepper Pinch of allspice Crust: 200g butter, softened (1 3/4 sticks) 1/2 cup potato mash powder 2 cups all purpose wheat flour (+ 1/2 cup later manually) 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 3/4 cup water 1 egg for brushing before oven 400°F, 20-25 min #meatpie #oven #finnishfood #Finland #traditionalfood
