Physiological Basis: 👉🏽Plyometric contractions are all those that consist of a stretching phase immediately followed by a shortening phase. Therefore, most of the actions we perform in everyday life are plyometric in nature. In sports practice, jumps, throws, and strikes are especially associated with this type of contraction, both in competition and training situations. 👉🏽The term plyometric (also called explosive strength) is currently used to develop the power of different muscle groups. It not only utilizes jumps but also other types of exercises, among which throwing stands out. Focused on this perspective, we call it multi-throw training, with the goal of increasing throwing ability. Therefore, plyometric training is an extremely demanding activity for the central nervous system, muscle cells, the supporting structures, and phosphagen metabolism. This necessitates considering physiological aspects, adaptation processes, and the implementation of a training methodology. 👉🏽SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE OF PLYOMETRICS IN ARCHERS: To reduce the coupling phase time between a loaded muscle undergoing an eccentric contraction (lengthening) immediately followed by a concentric contraction (shortening). By using this additional weight, we aim to generate a greater concentration of energy during the stretching phase, which is then released during the shortening phase, seeking an immediate transfer from a specific movement to increase power in that action. 👉🏽By focusing on VECTOR stimulation, we are not only referring to the direction of the impulses, but also to the muscle groups involved in generating the movement.
