This was precisely the atmosphere at the picturesque vineyard in Deidesheim when Ahorn Camp unveiled the new Van 630 in the exclusive Eclipse Edition. Under the confident slogan "Impossible to ignore," the brand presents a vehicle for the 2027 model year that breaks free from the often-cited uniformity of the market, both technically and visually. This edition is far more than just a special model; it is the consistent realization of a design concept inspired by the aesthetics of a solar eclipse, combining state-of-the-art automotive technology with the highest level of living comfort. The foundation for this project is the new Renault Master, which was named Van of the Year by an independent panel of European experts shortly after its market launch. As a journalist, I'm particularly impressed by how Ahorn Camp utilizes the advantages of this chassis. With an overall length of exactly 6.31 meters and a width of 2.08 meters, the van offers an agility usually associated with smaller vehicles. The aerodynamic optimization of the body is especially noteworthy, resulting in an approximately 20 percent improvement in the drag coefficient (Cd), which directly impacts efficiency and noise levels while driving. Under the hood is the proven dCi engine, available in power outputs ranging from 130 hp to a powerful 170 hp. Combined with the optional 9-speed automatic transmission, this creates a smooth driving experience more reminiscent of a luxury sedan than a van. Furthermore, the vehicle meets the stringent GSR2 safety guidelines, which means the integration of numerous driver assistance systems and the original Renault reversing camera ensures maximum safety. The Eclipse Edition lives up to its name with its deep black, elegant appearance. The Pearl Black paintwork harmonizes perfectly with the black 16-inch alloy wheels and the specific Eclipse decals, giving the vehicle a distinctive identity. High-quality Dometic framed windows, flush with the body, underscore its automotive character. Outside, the black awning, combined with a continuous, long light strip, provides perfect illumination, allowing you to enjoy that typical camping feeling even after sunset. An electric step makes getting in and out of the vehicle easy, and the moment you open the sliding door, it invites you into an exclusive world. As soon as you step inside, it becomes clear what Franziska meant by the term "automotive" during the presentation. The interior is dominated by black eco-leather, enhanced with white accents and fine diamond stitching – a high-quality and animal-friendly alternative to genuine leather. The cockpit of the new Renault Master also impresses with its abundance of storage compartments, making efficient use of every square centimeter. In the living area, the flexible table with its rotating extension leaf offers ample space for social gatherings, while the rear bench seat can be optionally equipped with Isofix child seat anchors – a crucial feature for young families. The lighting concept, combining indirect LED lighting with modern wood panels, creates a warm atmosphere that provides a striking contrast to the dark design elements. In the kitchen, the attention to detail is evident in the use of high-quality Häfele hinges on the overhead cabinets and soft-close drawers in the base cabinetry. The culinary centerpiece is the 70-liter Dometic compressor refrigerator, which can be opened from both sides thanks to a clever mechanism. Chilled drinks are easily accessible from both the cozy interior and directly from a picnic blanket in front of the vehicle. Cooking is done on a two-burner cooktop with piezo ignition, flush-mounted next to the sink. A technical highlight that will be especially appreciated by winter campers is the dedicated switch for the wastewater tank heater, which, together with the Truma Combi C4 gas heater, makes the vehicle fully winter-ready. The Vario bathroom in the Eclipse Edition continues the dark theme with a black shower door. Despite the vehicle's compact dimensions, a fully equipped bathroom with two mirrors, a skylight, and a side window has been created. A simple folding mechanism transforms the space into a roomy shower cubicle with black fixtures. An integrated clothes rail also allows for hanging wet hiking clothes or towels to stay clean and dry.
