Specific weight: Specific weight is the weight per unit volume of a fluid. It is typically measured in N/m^3 or lb/ft^3. Specific weight is the ratio of the fluid's weight to the weight of an equal volume of water at 4°C (39.2°F), and it is related to the fluid's density, where specific weight is equal to density times the acceleration due to gravity. Specific gravity: Specific gravity is a dimensionless ratio that compares the density of a fluid to the density of water. Specific gravity is the ratio of a fluid's density to the density of water at a specified temperature, typically 4 °C (39.2 °F). It is a dimensionless value and the ratio of a substance density to the reference density, usually water. and It is represented without units. All three properties are important when designing systems that involve fluids and are used to predict how a fluid will behave under different conditions.
