In this travel vlog, I explore what it’s really like visiting Chongqing for the first time. I start in one of the city’s most confusing locations, where what looks like street level is actually the 22nd floor. Chongqing is built into the mountains, stacked on top of itself, and feels completely different from anywhere else in China. I try authentic Chongqing Xiaomian, the city’s most famous local noodle dish, at a small neighbourhood restaurant. It’s known for its intense spice and bold flavours. I also test one of Chongqing’s strangest snacks, soft serve ice cream covered in chilli oil. I take the Chongqing metro to the world famous Liziba Station, where the train passes directly through a residential building. It’s one of the most iconic sights in China and a must see when visiting Chongqing. For the best skyline views, I head to the top of Raffles City Chongqing for panoramic views over the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers. I then cross the river using the Yangtze River Cableway, one of the most unique ways to see the city from above. I explore hidden alleyways carved into the cliffs, try traditional Chongqing stick hotpot, and finish the night at Hongyadong, famous for its bright lights and cyberpunk style skyline.
