Since the 33-kilometer section between Pastetten and Heldenstein was opened at the beginning of October, not a day has gone by without complaints about unbearable noise. These concerns are now being heard by the Bavarian state government; on Wednesday, Bavarian Transport Minister Hans Reichhart (CSU) visited them and promised noise measurements on private properties. The Isental Autobahn is Bavaria's most controversial road construction project. The dispute has raged for over 40 years.
