I spent a beautiful morning exploring Shan Cheng Xiang (山城巷), a charming historical village in Chongqing. This hidden slice of history is filled with old-world charm, tea houses, and stunning views of the Yangtze River! 🌊✨ 🚖 I arrived by Didi (private hire cab) a little before 9 AM and took the easy route by entering through the right entrance—a downhill path that made exploring effortless. ⚠️ Important tip: Make sure to enter from the correct side! If you start at the other entrance, you'll face a steep uphill walk with many flights of stairs. Things to See & Do in Shan Cheng Xiang: ✅ Traditional Architecture & Heritage – Step back in time as you walk through beautifully preserved alleyways. ✅ Tea Houses – A must-visit! I stopped at one to relax and enjoy a cup of Lidded Bowl Tea (盖碗茶). 🍵 ✅ Local Street Food – Try some classic Chongqing snacks while wandering through the alleys. 🌶️🥟🍦🧋🍹 ✅ Yangtze River Views – Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the bay (yes, overlooking the Yangtze River!). 🌊 ✅ Cultural Atmosphere – Witness local life, calligraphy art, and hidden courtyards filled with history. Tips for Visiting Shan Cheng Xiang: ✔️ Visit in the morning for a peaceful experience before the crowds arrive. ✔️ December (low season) is great for a relaxed, crowd-free visit. ✔️ Best drop-off point: Use "重庆渝中区佳实养老院" as your location marker on Didi or maps. This is the nearest drop-off point, and from there, it's just a 200-metre walk to the entrance of Shan Cheng Xiang. ✔️ Enter from the downhill entrance to make your walk easier! ✔️ Take your time to sip on Lidded Bowl Tea (盖碗茶) at a traditional teahouse. ✔️ Bring comfortable shoes—though I took the easy route, there's still some walking involved!
