Cutting Ties

The plaintiffs, a husband and wife, say the wife has been friends with the defendant for years. She claims the defendant had romantic feelings for her and, after learning she got married, intentionally cut wires on their furnace. They are suing for the cost of the repairs. The defendant says the furnace was already malfunctioning and that he tried to help fix it out of kindness.
