Intro music by NRA lab, Audio File ID: 119647 --- From sun-kissed vineyards to ancient cobbled streets, Day 13 was a ride through history, beauty… and a slight lapse in judgment. We rolled into the breathtaking town of Saint-Émilion, where golden limestone whispered tales of centuries past, and barrels rested in tunnels carved by patient hands. We drank in the view—quite literally—but somehow forgot the one thing this legendary place is known for: the wine. A rookie mistake? Absolutely. But at least our wallets survived the day. As we left the vineyards behind, the road carried us through rolling landscapes and across the Garonne River, where we found a hidden spot to bivouac among the cornfields. Just as we were settling in, the night took an unexpected turn—rustling, hushed voices, and the unmistakable sound of knives slicing through cornstalks. Farmers at work? Not quite. These were thieves, making off with a harvest they never planted. We sat frozen, watching shadows move in the dark, wondering if we should do something… and ultimately deciding that not being noticed was the smarter choice. And so, under a sky painted in fiery hues, we let the day slip away—with memories, with stories, but without a single bottle of wine. Lesson learned: next time, we ride slower… and shop smarter. 🍷
