Morning Devotional for Women | Wednesday, July 15, 2026 =================== When Your Integrity Is Criticized “How long will they torment me and crush me with their words? These ten times they have insulted me, and they are not ashamed to mistreat me.” – Job 19:2-3 (NIV) Chapter nineteen begins with a soul-stirring cry of relief. Job feels completely cornered, not by want or illness, but by the unbearable weight of human words. The patriarch confronts his comforters, exposing a harsh reality: their words had become a hammer that, time and again, struck his reputation, destroyed his dignity, and sought to convince those around him that he was a hypocrite. What's painful about this situation is that the mistreatment and suspicion didn't come from declared enemies, but from her closest friends, the people with whom she used to share her faith and her worship of the Almighty. This heartbreaking experience invites us to reflect on a very bitter trial that many women face in the different environments where they move. There are days when you experience the cold sting of unfair criticism, defamation, or malicious comments in the neighborhood, at work, or, sadly, in the halls of church. Feeling that your intentions are being easily misinterpreted, that the decisions you make in the privacy of your home are being judged, or that stories are being fabricated about your behavior destroys your peace of mind. In those moments when the distrust of others surrounds you, anger or humiliation try to convince you to fight back in kind or to abandon everything because of the pain of seeing your good name trampled underfoot. The great lesson this morning is that our true integrity is not determined by the verdict of others, but by the righteous gaze of our Creator. In 1 Peter, chapter 2, verse 23, we are reminded of the example of Jesus, who, when insulted, did not respond with insults, but entrusted His cause to the One who judges justly. When you choose to curb the impulse to repay evil with evil, you silence the condemning voices around you and kneel before the Throne of Grace in complete honesty, heaven is on your side. God becomes the Guardian of your reputation, granting you a higher peace that allows you to hold your head high and respond with holy gentleness to human callousness. Ellen G. White left us a tender and timely admonition to safeguard our spirits against reproach: “Satan delights in turning human beings into accusers of their brethren, destroying trust and sowing unjust suspicion… If we are to suffer the trial of slander or false accusations, let us not allow bitterness to contaminate our hearts. Let us look to the heavenly sanctuary; there we have a perfect Advocate who knows the purity of our motives. As we commit our cause to Him in the silence of prayer, the Holy Spirit infuses a calm that shields the mind from discontent, reminding us that our dignity is secure in the hands of the Creator and giving us the strength to continue witnessing with love” (Mind, Character, and Personality, vol. 2, p. 531). This certainty dispels despair. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus on this beautiful journey. He walked the path of utter humiliation; He endured being called a liar, having his character mocked, and having his suffering on the cross of Calvary ridiculed, yet his trust in the Father remained unwavering. Don't let the comments of those around you steal the joy of your salvation or the sweetness of your testimony.
